Mid and full-market rents

We offer other options for people who don't have priority for social housing.

Our sister company Lowther Homes has mid-market and market rent homes across the West and Central Scotland. Find out more about both below.

Mid-market

Mid-market rent homes offer alternative affordable housing for customers who work and who earn under £40,000.

These customers have no priority for social housing, but cannot afford to buy their own home or pay full-market rents.

Our sister company Lowther Homes has mid-market homes across west and central Scotland.

Market rent

We also have a small portfolio of market rent properties to suit the professional household.

Each property contains carpets, white goods and window coverings allowing you to furnish in your own style. Many of our market rent developments have allocated parking which is at a premium in the city centre.

We operate an income criteria for our market rent properties - applicants should earn a minimum of £22,000 per year per household (gross).

Our market rent homes are managed by our sister organisation, Lowther Homes.

Rent

Rent is due monthly in advance on the first day of each calendar month. If you are struggling to pay your rent then get in touch as soon as possible to discuss your options for repayment.

Confidentiality

Any correspondence or interviews between yourself and Lowther Homes will be treated as strictly confidential. Information passed to third parties will only happen with prior consent from you.

Council Tax

Council Tax will be charged to you for the duration of the lease. Certain discounts can be allocated by contacting your local council office.

Should Lowther Homes be charged for any Council Tax during a period of tenancy, it will be recouped from you.

Pets

Pets are restricted to one per household. However, a 'No dog' policy may apply in certain developments.

The pet should be kept under control at all times and must not damage the property or annoy neighbours.

Insurance

Lowther Homes has building insurance which covers damage to its properties. Personal property and internal decoration is not included in this insurance policy. Tenants must take out their own home contents insurance policy.

Relationship disputes

The Matrimonial Homes Act (Scotland) 1981 provides various rights to tenants and their spouses in the case of marital difficulties. If you are unsure of your rights, contact us, Citizens Advice Scotland or a solicitor.

Neighbour disputes

Are you having issues with your neighbour? You should try to resolve any problems amicably in the first instance.

If the problem continues, please contact a Lowther Homes letting agent on 0800 561 6666.

Ending your tenancy

Tenants looking to end their tenancy with Lowther Homes must do so in writing. Your tenancy agreement will let you know the required notice period.

Tenants should also get in touch with their gas and electricity companies to get their mail redirected.

Staff from Lowther Homes will carry out an inspection of the empty property to make sure it has been left clean, tidy and ready for re-let.

Your deposit, less any deductions, will be returned to you within one month of the keys being being returned to our office.
