Help is 'beyond first class'

A tenant in West Lothian says the support she received from WLHP is “beyond first class”.

Tenants can get help to cut fuel bills

Sharon Hunter, from Broxburn, was struggling financially, was on a pay-as-you-go meter for gas and electricity and had no money for top-ups.

Her housing officer Karla Aubin put her in touch with fuel advisor James Whitelaw, who stepped in to help.

James arranged for an emergency fuel voucher, as well as contacting Scottish Power to make sure Sharon’s supply was kept on. He also applied for a Warm Home Discount which Sharon will receive early next year.

A delighted Sharon said: “The help I received was beyond first class.

“James was so helpful and supportive. He really understood my situation and did everything for me. It was excellent.

“My housing officer Karla has been brilliant too. She always phones me to make sure I’m okay and if there’s anything I need.”

Lynsey Fotheringham, WLHP Head of Housing, said: “Karla, James and the rest of our team are doing all they can to help our most vulnerable customers.”

If you need help with your fuel bills, contact your housing officer.
