SHARED EQUITY BUCKING THE TREND
Four household have benefitted from a shared equity scheme by West Lothian Housing Partnership. The units were integrated into its now 32-unit Broxburn development, opened yesterday.
The Grant family (pictured) got a home more suited to their needs. They couldn't adapt their private let to meet their disabilities and were looking for a home closer to family support and more convenient for work.
New home-ownder Neil Grant said "at a 60% share, this has given us a great, lower cost route into home ownership, and a safer home environment for our son".
Stewart Melrose, Chair of West Lothian Housing Partnership Ltd said "Demand for shared equity was lively and all applications were prioritised according to strick criteria. We were delighted to offer the housed to four local households who have been occupying unsuitable private lets or living with parents. We plan to offer more such opportunities in Blackburn later this year".
